I was charged for an extra night and some others were not. There was no refunds after you sign the contract. Regardless. So beware! Go in paying close attention. Or you will leave not happy!
The only place I will stay when riding the trails at big south fork
What a wonderful place! Shaded campground, clean bathhouse, wonderful hosts...Teresa was the best! Gave us maps and helped plan our routes. Checked out other campgrounds while we were there but Saddle Valley by far the best. Two thumbs up!! And many more!! Hope to get back in the near future!!!! I definitely recommend Saddle Valley!
One of the best campgrounds at the big south fork trails!!! Clean, shaded, stalls and corrals, showers and bathrooms. A covered shared area and the folks who own it are awesome folks who also ride!!!
Since I put this out publicly that I saw much room for improvement in the trip I thought I would also let you know they did make an effort to make things up to me too! I would appreciate it much more if they would have been willing to listen to me and improve areas for others that may come and do the same thing.
I just want to give a heads up on how disorganized I found their organized ride. It was a bit faster pace than I was led to believe. We arrived in a dry camp and they did not have enough water to water the horses thoroughly and they had just carried us over 20 miles in 90 degree heat. They did have very good hay. They do not control the weather but needed to be prepared. If you did not get in line and gobble food there was not enough food, I got one small bowl of stew, no bisquits left and no dessert and I was only about 15 minutes behind others. The breakfast was big and good. The trails were not decided on beforehand, nor did all the outriders know the trails. Even the trail boss was not sure. Not as big a problem when ground bee's are not turning the whole ride into a rodeo with trees in the way and cliffs but a very bad thing when they are and they were. There were many riders dumped and some mildly hurt with mild being sheer luck THIS TIME. Language and attitudes on this ride were far from family condusive. I t was very loud and filthy language at times.
